Meet our team

Everyone knows the importance of finding a good dance teacher. When choosing a teacher, it is important to find someone who is not only qualified but who will also be able to encourage learning and help instil a passion for dance in the student.

Lee Simpson

Qualifications
Life Member BATD (Highland, Scottish National, Stage, Tap)
Diploma in Dance Instruction (DDI) (ISTD - Tap Faculty)
Licenciate - UKA (Highland, Scottish National, Tap)
Level 1 Award in Sports Leadership (Dance Leadership)

Lee started dance lessons at the tender age of two with Alice Stuart at Stuart School of Dancing in Aberdeen. With a keen interest in dance and years of assisting the younger dance classes, Lee was keen to further her teaching skills and obtained her first professional qualification with the BATD (British Association Teachers of Dancing) in 1994. Throughout the years, she has worked hard to gain many more qualifications in Highland, Scottish National, Stage and Tap. During 2008/09 Lee decided she wanted more for Danz Creations and decided to further her dance knowledge, so undertook to study with the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing). After sitting the necessary vocational examinations, she gained her DDI (Diploma in Dance Instruction) qualification in Tap Dance in 2011.

In 2006 Danz Creations was established, with Lee spearheading the school. With her passion and usual enthusiasm towards anything to do with dance, she is always keen to broaden her students' knowledge and skills in all aspects of dance. She regularly attends courses in Glasgow and London and tries to organises outings and workshops for her students on a regular basis. Lee has also been asked on numerous occasions to be a Tutor for the BATD at various dance events, which goes to show how highly she is regarded in the BATD dance world.

On the rare occasions that Lee is not dancing, she likes to spend time with her family and friends. Married with two children, her spare time is never dull! Having such a hectic life makes you wonder how on earth she has the time to fit things in, but she manages with her usual flair.

Jaqueline Dempster

Qualifications
Life Member BATD (Highland, Scottish National, Stage, Tap)

When Jacqueline's mum enrolled her in Ballet and Tap classes along with her friends at the age of two years, little did she know that was the beginning of Jacqueline's dancing career. Whilst her friends chose different paths, Jacqueline continued with dance, adding in Highland and Scottish National classes too. At the age of 10, she started helping teach the younger classes and, in 1994, gained her Highland Associate certificate with the BATD (British Association of Teachers of Dancing).

Furthering her knowledge in dance is important to Jacqueline and she has also gained qualifications with the BATD in Scottish National, Stage and Tap. She regularly has day trips to Glasgow to attend teacher training and Days of Dance, bringing back new and exciting ideas to pass onto the pupils.

In 2006, Jacqueline embarked on a new dance venture alongside Lee - launching Danz Creations, also adding the Kinellar location into their growing school. Jacqueline loves the pizzazz and glitter of Show Time - choreographing routines for the Danz Creations biennial show and making many children's dream come true - to dance on stage!

Jacqueline is very lucky to have the support of her family including her two children. Amazingly, she is now teaching children whose parents she has taught and also danced with!

Laura Black

Qualifications
Member BATD (Highland, Scottish National, Tap)
Danz Creations Street Dance Teacher
Qualified DDMix Instructor

Laura started dancing at the age of three in the style of Tap, Majorettes, Highland and Scottish National. Laura worked hard every week to make sure she knew all her steps before the next lesson. She also enjoyed Scottish Country Dancing, where she won various competitions and danced at the European Special Olympics and Aberdeen International Youth Festival.

When Laura was old enough, she started to help out with the younger classes then, with the desire to keep going in the world of dance, she became a qualified teacher in 2004. As times were changing, Laura had a passion for Street Dance and took on all the Street classes in 2008 and started choreographing her own routines. Laura loves trying to find the students' 'inner divas' and tries to help everyone gain confidence as they perform. Laura keeps up to date with all genres of dance and regularly attends workshops and hopes to continue gaining further qualifications.

Dance is a huge part of her life, but Laura also works part time as an Executive Assistant and is also mum to Emmie and Sadie. Her love for dancing has rubbed off on both daughters who both love performing on stage.

Acrobatic Arts Certified
BGU - Pom & Jazz Dance

Niki's passion is dance, whether it be performing, teaching or choreographing. Having grown up in Aberdeen, Niki showed a talent and love for dancing from the age of two, taking classes in any form of dance she could get into - ranging from Highland, Ballet, and Tap to Freestyle Disco. Going down the competitive route, she then decided to concentrate on the more grounded dance styles; she gave up Freestyle but added Scottish National and Street into her dance life. As she grew, so did her love for dance and she was thrilled by the age of 18 to be accepted to study dance professionally at Ecosse Performers College.

Working under the ISTD and RAD, Niki studied classes in Modern, Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre. After completing a three-year course, she gained her DDI qualification in Modern and Tap, as well as performing in many successful shows with the college.

Niki then went off to audition for dance work, as well as working alongside Lee and Jacqueline at Danz Creations. She was delighted to be able to help choreograph numbers at Danz Creations for their very successful shows and she has also managed to qualify as a teacher under the BATD in highland, tap and ballet.

In 2013, Niki accepted an offer to fulfil her dream to teach and perform in New Zealand. She performed professionally with Pump Dance Studios and taught Modern, Ballet and Musical Theatre for Wellington Girls College and Dance New Zealand. Niki was also lucky enough to get a place to dance with The Royal New Zealand Ballet, something she will never forget.

Making the decision to the return to Aberdeen, Niki was delighted to be offered a full-time teaching position with Danz Creations. This would enable her to pass on her love, passion and knowledge of dance and performance to the pupils whilst being able to continue doing something she loves. In 2014, Niki introduced modern into the Danz Creations timetable.

Niki is currently studying to gain more teaching qualifications whilst keeping up to date with all genres of dance by attending courses/workshops so she can offer the best to the students.
